2011-12 ANNUAL GIVING CAMPAIGN ~ LOA FIELD OF DREAMS

The success of Lake Oconee Academy has been built on small class size, a personal touch from teachers and staff, and a commitment that each child’s academic success is of utmost importance.  The present program at LOA has been subsidized by a one-time Federal Implementation Grant.  The grant is designed to assist charter schools as they implement and establish their academic programs.  Sustaining the programs after the life of the grant is the responsibility of the school.

LOA aspires to make the transition without sacrificing any of its fundamental principles of Scholarship, Citizenship and Community.  To accomplish this goal, the present per student funding allotment must continue to be used solely for educational programs.  Additional funding will be needed to ensure the addition of the extracurricular programs – arts, music and athletics – of a well-rounded education.

The focus of the 2011-12 Annual Giving Campaign is the completion of a baseball/softball field on the LOA campus.

A Message from the LOA Parent's Association:

Lake Oconee Academy is a young school, so in order to broaden student opportunities relatively quickly, we support the need to raise funds via the Annual Giving Campaign. Offering exceptional extracurricular programs - athletics, science labs, language programs, music and theater - in conjunction with a stellar academic curriculum is essential for our students to compete with the “best of the best.”  The addition of the baseball/softball field will be a wonderful opportunity for our students, and something that we can share with our community.

Your contribution, no matter what amount you are able to give, really does make a difference.  Every donation is a clear indication that as responsible and interested parents and community members, we take a sense of pride, ownership and accountability to help secure the future of LOA.  It is a sign of gratitude and faith in our school that LOA will be here for generations to come.  Please partner with us and help us build our Field of Dreams.

The annual Tees for Titans Golf Tournament and Fundraiser has been instrumental in raising funds for the purchase of library books, math programs, the sound and lighting system for the performing arts stage, and the construction of the baseball/softball field.  The 2013 Tees for Titans tournament will be held Thursday, May 23 at The Landing Course, Reynolds Plantation.  For more information, please visit www.teesfortitans.com. Thank you to our community sponsors and parent volunteers for making the event such a huge success each year!

LOA also participates in several fundraising efforts during the school year:

1. Box Tops for Education - Please bring in all Box Tops from participating products to the collection box in the school lobby. Visit the website at www.boxtops4education.com for a complete listing of all Box Tops products and additional ways to earn money for LOA such as online shopping at your favorite stores through the Box Tops Marketplace!

2. Publix Partners - Pick up a keychain scan card from the school office.  Every time you purchase groceries at Publix, ask the cashier to scan your card before payment is made.  LOA receives a percentage of the total amount of sales registered to our Partners cards.  Give them to family and friends as well!

3. Staples Ink Cartridge Program - Drop off all types of printer ink cartridges for recycling in the collection box at school.  LOA receives credits to use for purchases at Staples.

4. Coke Rewards - Visit the www.mycokerewards.com website to register and participate in the Coke Rewards program for our school. Your participation helps LOA earn some great items such as sports gear, classroom supplies, books and more!
