May 19th Quarterly Town Hall Meeting Cancelled

Parents, Faculty, and All Stakeholders of Lake Oconee Academy,

The LOABOG has received positive feedback regarding the new Quarterly Town Hall Meetings, but the timing in May was a hardship for parents. As a solution, we're canceling the May 19th meeting and have included the announcements that were on the agenda down below instead. We'll hold the first Town Hall after school starts in the fall, with details coming soon. Stay tuned!

We would like to take this opportunity to extend a sincere THANK YOU to Dr. Otho Tucker and his wife Cindy for the vision and dedication they have shown Lake Oconee Academy since we opened our doors to the first Kindergarten class of 11 students in 2007.

Although we are all saddened by Dr. Tucker's retirement at the end of this school year, we are elated to announce he will continue to serve as a LOA Board Consultant.

Dr. Tucker has been an instrumental force in shaping what LOA is today and the legacy he leaves is one that will be felt by students in Greene County for generations to come.

Part of our due diligence in selecting a new school leader involved interviewing internal and external candidates as part of an extensive executive search.

The search revealed our next leader of LOA was already on staff. We also discovered the industry standard title for this role is Executive Director vs CEO.

Thus, the Board reached a decision that the best course of action would be to change the title of CEO to Executive Director moving forward.

Effective July 1, 2023, Dr. Brad Bowling will become the new Executive Director of Lake Oconee Academy.

Dr. Bowling is well known and respected in the local community, by the faculty, staff, parents and students alike. Currently, Dr. Bowling serves as the LOA Upper School Director.

Dr. Bowling has had an esteemed career in education and most recently was selected as the National Special Education Director of the Year in 2022.

We are excited to have Dr. Bowling in this role as he leads LOA forward, continuing the legacy of excellence Dr. Tucker started.
