LOA Welcomes New Students Across Grade Levels

Lake Oconee Academy’s counseling team recently hosted the annual “New to LOA” Student Information Sessions, giving our newest Titans a warm introduction to life on campus. Designed to help students feel at home, the sessions included opportunities to learn about LOA’s culture, meet key staff members, and start building friendships that will carry them into the new school year.

Thanks to the generosity of Lake Oconee’s Dunkin’ Donuts, elementary students were greeted with sweet treats while counselors answered the most-asked question of the day: “Why is LOA so big?” The answer is simple! LOA is one of the few schools in Georgia serving students from Pre-K through 12th grade, all on one campus. It’s this unique quality that creates the special sense of connection and community that makes LOA truly special.

For the middle and high school students, newcomers enjoyed a special welcome social complete with a bingo icebreaker to get to know their classmates. They also had the chance to meet their school counselors, hear insider tips on schedules, and begin forming bonds with their peers. Staff members, peer mentors, and volunteers joined to share their roles and offer encouragement, ensuring students felt seen and supported from the very start.

In a thank-you statement to all staff, Middle School Counselor Jennifer Patton said, “Everyone’s teamwork and dedication to making the event run smoothly did not go unnoticed. Together, you helped make our new students’ first impression of LOA one of kindness, support, and belonging.”

From kindergarten to seniors, it’s these kinds of authentic campus events that further LOA’s motto: ONE Titan! We are always excited to welcome new students into the LOA family and wish all Titans great start to the new school year ahead.
