LOA Connects Local Students with Colleges and Careers at Probe Fair

Lake Oconee Academy welcomed students from across Greene County hosting the Probe College Fair on September 29. Over 42 colleges and two branches of the U.S. military lined the campus’ Titan Center, giving high school students a unique opportunity to explore their futures, ask questions and connect with representatives.

In addition to LOA students in grades 9–12, participants included students from Greene County Schools and Gatewood Schools, making the college fair a true community-wide effort to prepare young people for the next step in their academic and career journeys.

“The Probe Fair is about opening doors,” said Johnny Noto, Director of College and Career Counseling at Lake Oconee Academy. “We want students to see the range of opportunities available to them, whether that’s a four-year university, technical program or military service. It’s about finding the right fit and helping them take the next step with confidence.”

Colleges and universities of all sizes participated in the college fair, from flagship institutions like the University of Georgia and the University of Alabama to private colleges including Piedmont University, Truett McConnell University and Agnes Scott College.

Moving from booth to booth, students were able to freely speak directly to college representatives and learn more about each institution’s campus life, academic programs and scholarship opportunities. Many took notes, collected materials and even made their first personal connections with colleges they’re considering for applications this fall. “It was helpful to talk directly to the admissions team and be able to learn more about so many different schools,” said Ellie Copelan, LOA senior.

LOA is pleased to host events like the Probe Fair, furthering its mission to prepare students for success beyond high school graduation. By creating direct access to college and career pathways, in conjunction with offering a broader range of college-prep programs such as dual enrollment, Advanced Placement courses and one-on-one counseling support, LOA ensures that students not only dream about their futures, but also have the resources, guidance and opportunities to achieve them.
