On Thursday, March 13th, the Lake Oconee Academy 7th and 8th Grade Band traveled to Burke County High School to participate in the State Band Adjudication—and they nailed it! Under the direction of Mrs. Courtney Pilgrim, the students earned Superior ratings on the performance floor as well as in the sight-reading room, marking a major achievement for this dedicated group of musicians.

The day began with a final run-through at 10:00 AM in the LOA band room before students boarded the bus at 11:00 AM. Along the way, the group made a lunch stop at Chick-fil-A in Thomson to fuel up before their big moment. The performance, held at 3:30 PM, was open to the public and took place at Burke County High School in Waynesboro, Georgia.

This event was not only an important milestone in the students’ musical journey—it was also a graded activity that required dedication, preparation, and teamwork. The students represented LOA with excellence, professionalism, and a love for music that clearly resonated with the adjudicators.

Special thanks to the parents who volunteered their time as chaperones and helped make the trip run smoothly. As always, parental support is deeply appreciated and critical to the success of events like these.

A heartfelt congratulations to the entire Middle School Band for their outstanding performance. Be sure to give them a high five and celebrate this well-earned recognition!
