Lake Oconee Academy proudly celebrates ninth grade student Noah Angle, who has been named a regional winner in the Young Georgia Authors (YGA) Writing Competition.

On April 1, Noah was recognized during a special surprise presentation on campus, where Jen Harper, representing RESA, presented him with a certificate honoring his achievement. The recognition took place in Brooke Heberling’s classroom, surrounded by school administrators, teachers, and classmates who gathered to celebrate his accomplishment.

The Young Georgia Authors Writing Competition is a statewide program that recognizes outstanding student writing and encourages creativity and expression among young authors. Noah’s winning piece stood out at the regional level, earning high praise from judges. “I was truly blown away by Noah’s writing,” said Harper during the presentation. “His piece was incredibly impressive and demonstrated a remarkable level of depth and creativity.”

Noah’s success in writing is just one part of his well-rounded involvement at Lake Oconee Academy. School counselor Johnny Noto noted that Noah is not only dedicated to his academics and writing but also excels as a competitive athlete and member of the football team. “In addition to taking his academics seriously, Noah is also a committed athlete,” said Noto. “It’s incredibly impressive to see how well-rounded he is and how he balances both so successfully.”

Writer’s workshop teacher, Brooke Heberling, also shared her pride in Noah's achievement and his continued passion for writing. “We are so proud of Noah,” said Heberling. “Not only did he create an outstanding piece for this competition, but he is also currently working on writing his own book. His creativity and dedication are truly inspiring.”

Noah’s original work earned top honors among all ninth grade entries across 13 school systems in the RESA district and will now advance to compete at the state level.

Lake Oconee Academy celebrates Noah Angle’s achievement and looks forward to seeing how his talents continue to grow in both writing and beyond. His achievement reflects Lake Oconee Academy’s commitment to fostering creativity, scholarship, and student voice.
