Lake Oconee Academy has been ranked the No. 29 public high school in Georgia by U.S. News & World Report, making it one of only five Georgia charter schools recognized among the state’s top 100 public high schools.
The annual rankings evaluate public high schools across the nation using multiple measures of academic excellence, including challenging coursework, college readiness, graduation rates, and state assessment proficiency and performance. Among the 437 public high schools ranked in Georgia, Lake Oconee Academy placed among the state’s highest-ranked schools.
“This achievement represents years of hard work, high expectations, and a shared commitment to student success,” said Dr. Brad Bowling, CEO of Lake Oconee Academy. “We are grateful for the incredible students, educators, families, and supporters who continue to make Lake Oconee Academy such a special place. Together, we will continue striving to provide an exceptional educational experience for every Titan.”
Lake Oconee Academy High School Principal Jerante Smith also praised the faculty’s commitment to student success.
“Our staff is second to none,” said Smith. “This recognition reflects the dedication, professionalism, and passion our teachers bring to the classroom every day.”
While the ranking specifically recognizes Lake Oconee Academy’s high school program, school leaders view the achievement as a reflection of the strong foundation built across the entire PK–12 campus.
“Our students’ success begins long before they enter high school,” said Bowling. “It is built by outstanding teachers, supportive families, dedicated staff, and a community that believes in providing every student with opportunities to excel. This achievement belongs to our entire O.N.E. Titan family.”
Being one of only five Georgia charter schools recognized among the state’s top 100 public high schools marks another milestone in Lake Oconee Academy’s continued pursuit of excellence. As the school celebrates this achievement, its focus remains unchanged: providing every student with an exceptional educational experience and preparing graduates to thrive in college, careers, and their communities.
