More than 150 Lake Oconee Academy families recently gathered on campus for Parent Connection Night, an evening designed to strengthen the partnership between home and school while giving parents practical tools to support student success throughout the school year.

Held for kindergarten through fourth-grade families, the event invited parents into their children's classrooms for an inside look at daily routines, classroom expectations, curriculum, and strategies they can reinforce at home. Childcare was provided in the school gym, allowing parents to fully participate in presentations and discussions with teachers.

Families had the opportunity to connect with teachers, ask questions, and gain practical resources to support their children both academically and personally. The evening concluded with several door prize drawings, including Titan Tech passes, LOA’s Armory store gift cards, and tickets to a varsity athletic event.

"It was wonderful to welcome so many families back to campus and give them a glimpse into what a day looks like in their child's classroom," said Katelyn Mellow, lower school principal at Lake Oconee Academy. "When parents understand the routines, expectations, and learning experiences taking place each day, they become even stronger partners in their child's education. We hope every family left feeling encouraged and equipped with tools and strategies to help their learner have a successful school year."

For third-grade teacher Jamie McCuin, Parent Connection Night is an opportunity to build relationships that can benefit students throughout the school year.

“A strong parent-teacher partnership is one of the most important pieces of a child’s success. When parents and teachers take the time to connect, communicate, and work together, they create a team that supports the whole child. Parent Connection Night gives us a meaningful opportunity to build those relationships from the very beginning. Building strong relationships with our families is an investment in every child’s success.”

At Lake Oconee Academy, education extends beyond the classroom walls. Events like Parent Connection Night reflect the school's commitment to Citizenship, Scholarship, and Community, bringing families and educators together to create a strong foundation for students to thrive in school and in life.
