Lake Oconee Academy seventh and eighth-grade students recently combined creativity and civic engagement through a partnership with the Greene County Elections Office, designing original voting stickers for local voters.

Students were challenged to create unique designs celebrating the importance of voting and civic participation. The project allowed them to put their artistic talents to work while exploring how they could contribute to an important civic tradition.

The project generated excitement as students prepared to submit their designs. Greene County Elections Director Rebecca Anglin later visited campus to announce the winning artists: Roquel Callaway, Madison Lomonaco, Eleanor Todd, Regan Hood, and Lydia Hill.

“It was really exciting to see everyone’s designs and know that something we created could be part of an actual election,” said Roquel Callaway, an eighth grader at LOA.

Beyond the creative competition, the project introduced students to the value of civic involvement and demonstrated how young people can make meaningful contributions to their community, even before they are old enough to vote.

Lake Oconee Academy thanks the Greene County Elections Office for providing students with this opportunity to connect their artistic talents with civic engagement. The partnership encouraged students to see how creativity can play a role in public life and gave their work the potential to become part of Greene County’s voting experience.
