Kids walking to class on campus

Another school year is underway at Lake Oconee Academy. New book bags, fresh shoes, and sharpened pencils are on display in every classroom. From the youngest Titans taking their first steps on campus to the oldest seniors eager to celebrate their final run, excitement abounds as the 2025-2026 school year brings new beginnings and new opportunities. Dedicated teachers and administration have meticulously prepared and planned for the new school year, with a high focus on ensuring all students and families, both new and returning, feel connected and proud to be a part of the “One Titan” community.

Quickly after acceptance, special attention is taken in order to build that unified sense of community for those just starting their Titan journeys. Early in the summer, those new to LOA are welcomed with the New Parent Orientation. A meet and greet event, attendees are able to better understand the ins and outs of the school; ask pertinent questions to key LOA staff and board members; and hopefully build a stronger confidence as they prepare for the first day of school. As the new school year commences, the intention continues with lower and upper school counselors hosting student mingles: a fun campus gathering where new students connect with their peers, fostering a sense of place and a love of pizza!

For those returning to LOA, the annual Teacher Meet & Greet welcomes refreshed minds and friendly faces from the well-deserved summer break. Students compare class schedules, find their classrooms, and connect (or reconnect) with teachers. The best part: The energy on campus is contagious as all Titans gear up for the new school year ahead.

The culture at LOA is one that does not shy away from parental involvement. As a matter of fact, the mission to increase overall student achievement and success rests both inside and outside of the classroom. Along with parent volunteers for specific classroom, team or club needs, the Parent Teacher Committee (PTC) is a longstanding group that continues to grow and thrive with a firm commitment at creating unique “One Titan” moments for the LOA community.

A fan-favorite, the Titan Tailgate Bash is typically held before the first home football game and literally “kicks off” the fall season with fun activities for all to enjoy. From face painting and games to music and food trucks, the Titan Spirit is alive as LOA families parade to Tucker Field with the LOA football team, cheerleaders, and marching band! From large-scale school events, like the Titan Tailgate Bash, to smaller acts of kindness to show continued appreciation to the deserving LOA teachers, the PTC welcomes parents to jump on board, cultivating that sense of pride and community by bringing LOA families and supporters together year-round.

Lake Oconee Academy is more than a school: It’s a culture! A culture of pride that is instilled from day one and remains steadfast and true for the “One Titan” community. Thanks to the unified commitment from students and families, along with staff members and the Lake Oconee area at large, LOA continues to create a well-rounded educational experience unlike any other.
