GHP reps

Lake Oconee Academy is proud to recognize eight high school students who have been selected as county-level nominees for the prestigious Governor’s Honors Program (GHP), one of the most selective and respected summer academic programs in Georgia.

The Governor’s Honors Program identifies and supports Georgia’s most talented high school sophomores and juniors, offering them an advanced four-week residential experience on a university campus. Students engage in rigorous academic and artistic studies designed to foster leadership, creativity and intellectual curiosity.

This year’s LOA county-level nominees include:

  • Grayson Hooks – Computer Science

  • Ethan Ralston – Computer Science

  • Jillian Gruszynski – Social Studies

  • Luke Hankinson – Social Studies

  • Lillian Garcia-Carreras – Theatre

  • Jameson Lackey – Mathematics

  • Jessica White – Mathematics

  • Naomi Stone – Visual Arts

  • Nicole Wang – Mathematics

These students were nominated by their teachers and selected based on academic excellence, creativity and passion for their chosen fields. Each will now advance to the state-level application phase, where they’ll complete essays, portfolios and interviews to be considered for the summer residential program.

“Being nominated for the GHP is a tremendous honor,” said Mandy Lipscomb, LOA’s AP U.S. History teacher. “It recognizes students who go above and beyond in their studies—those who display not only academic talent, but also the motivation and curiosity to keep learning at a higher level.”

The GHP process is highly competitive and students who advance to the final stage will join peers from across the state for a transformative summer of focused study and collaboration.

Lake Oconee Academy congratulates all the nominees and wishes them success as they continue through the selection process. Their dedication and hard work reflect LOA’s steadfast commitment to academic excellence and student achievement.
