On Friday, January 16, the energy felt extra old at Lake Oconee Academy as our littlest Titans celebrated one of the most anticipated milestones of the school year, the 100th Day of School! From canes and cardigans to gray hair and glasses, PreK and Kindergarten students arrived dressed as if they were 100 years old: a sight that brought laughter, creativity and joy all over campus.
The annual celebration is a beloved tradition at LOA and blends learning with imagination in the most delightful way. Throughout the day, students took part in hands-on activities centered around the number 100: counting collections, building with 100 items, and proudly wearing colorful 100th Day hats.
Classrooms buzzed with excitement as students explored what 100 really means, not just as a number, but as an achievement. Teachers guided students through activities that reinforced math skills, encouraged problem-solving, and celebrated persistence. Reaching the 100th day of school is a big deal, especially for the youngest of learners.
“This day is always one of my favorite days of school” said Kindergarten Assistant, Mrs. Nancy Jaronski. “It’s such a joyful way to reflect on how much our students have grown since the first day of school.”
Kindergarten teacher Mrs. Lisa Weaver echoed the excitement, sharing how meaningful the day is for both students and teachers. “I just love seeing how cute the kids look dressed up” she said. “They are so proud of themselves and that pride shines through everything they do today.”
Adding to the fun, Kindergarten students enjoyed a special breakfast where pancakes and sausage links were creatively arranged to spell out the number 100, a sweet and memorable way to start the celebration.
Of course, some of the best moments came from the students themselves. When asked what they thought about being 100 years old, one PreK student shared, “One hundred is really, really old! That’s older then my Grandpa.”
From giggles in the hallway to wide smiles in the classroom, the 100th Day of School was a joyful reminder of why these moments matter. It celebrated learning, growth and the magic of childhood, while honoring the hard work our students have put in over the past 100 days at school.
At Lake Oconee Academy, even the smallest milestones are worth celebrating in a big way, especially when it involves our youngest Titans and a whole lot of heart. 💙💛
