Our teachers make LOA special. 💙Being a public charter school allows us to support innovative teaching, strong relationships, and a learning environment built around student needs. We are thankful for the incredible educators who bring this vision to life every day.

At Lake Oconee Academy, choice looks like engaged students, meaningful learning, and a place where every child belongs. This week, we are celebrating the students at the heart of everything we do. 💛

This week, we are proud to celebrate National School Choice Week! 💛 As a public charter school serving students PreK4–12th, Lake Oconee Academy is one of many school options available to families. National School Choice Week is a time to celebrate finding the right fit for every child and the communities that support them. We are grateful to be part of your choice. 💙💛
Sometimes the best learning happens right outside the classroom 🌿This week, our students headed out on a Habitat Hunt to kick off their habitat unit, exploring the area around our school to find real-life examples of food, water, and shelter for local animals.

Big creativity is happening across our campus! 📚✨From hands-on learning in the classroom to innovation in the library, our students continue to amaze us. A special shoutout to Colt, who proudly 3D printed a Titan headdress that will now be displayed in the library. How cool is that?! 🖨️⚔️We love seeing our students collaborate, create, build, and take pride in sharing their work with the school community. These moments are what learning at LOA is all about.

Fun things are happening in 2nd grade. Our students have been working on opinion writing and recently wrote about whether they wanted a hermit crab or a betta fish as a class pet. After sharing their thoughts and reasoning, they voted and the betta fish won! 🐟Second grade students now have a class betta fish named Blueberry and they are loving it! From writing and voting to observing and caring for their new class pet, this experience made learning engaging, meaningful and fun. Moments like these truly bring learning to life at LOA.

Thankful Thursday 💙✨ There’s nothing better than seeing our students reunited with their friends after the holiday break. Their smiles say it all — we are so thankful to have our Titans back on campus, filling our halls with joy, energy and excitement for a new year of learning and growth in 2026. Here’s to a fresh start, new adventures and a community we’re grateful for every single day.
Learning comes to life in 4th grade science. 🌍✨ After studying habitats and ecosystems, our students brought their learning off the page and into their hands by designing and building detailed dioramas. From rainforests to oceans, each project reflects creativity, problem solving and a deep understanding of how living things depend on their environments.🌿📚💙

As we wrap up the 2025 calendar year at Lake Oconee Academy, we want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible volunteers of our Parent Teacher Committee. 💙✨ All month long, these amazing parents generously gave their time, talents and energy to ensure our teachers felt appreciated, supported and truly celebrated. From sweet treats and thoughtful moments of encouragement to dads jumping into carline wearing inflatable costumes, their impact was felt across every corner of campus.
Our LOA community is something truly special. It is generous, supportive and rooted in the belief that we are better together. We are so grateful for our PTC volunteers and all they do to help make our school feel like one big family. 🎄🍪

Art class magic in the making! ❄️✨ Our students have been busy creating their own winter snow globes and their creativity is shining bright. From color blending to tiny details, it’s so fun watching our young artists bring their imaginations to life. We just loved seeing our Titans express themselves through art this week! 🎨💙

From Pancakes & Grinch Day, to Mrs. Hood’s cozy coffee bar in middle school, our campus has been full of cheer, smiles and sweet moments all week long. ❤️💚 What a joyful way to wrap up the semester. We are so grateful for these traditions and the teachers who make learning fun and the festive. Wishing all of our Titan families a wonderful holiday break. 🎄✨
Our second graders had a blast with a hands-on challenge this week. After learning about snow leopard habitats in science, students were tasked with building their own “mountain ranges” using only index cards 🏔️. They explored balance, gravity, and structural design while working together to create the tallest and strongest towers. ✨❄️
Of course, Mr. Tom, our wonderful volunteer, had to give the challenge a try too… and the students loved cheering him on. Moments like these make learning come alive at LOA.

Mrs. Griffin’s kindergarten students have been hard at work on their Santa wish lists. ✏️🎅 Along the way, they’re practicing their writing, spelling and early literacy skills with so much excitement. Nothing sweeter than learning filled with holiday joy. ❤️📚
Middle school mornings are magical at LOA. ✨📚 From cozy holiday corners to sweet friendships and festive smiles, our students bring so much joy to the season. There’s truly something special about starting the day together. 🌟🎄
It truly is the most wonderful time of the year at LOA. 🎄✨Our youngest Titans had the sweetest morning shopping for their loved ones at the Secret Santa Workshop with help from their very own upper school buddies. Moments like these remind us what makes our school so special. ❄️🎁
Our Titans rolled up their sleeves and sprinkled a little holiday cheer at our school front entrance. 🌲💙 Mrs. Brown’s students helped re-pot our planters, choosing winter greenery and festive plants to welcome everyone who walks through LOA’s doors. It was a fun hands-on project that blended teamwork, responsibility and a little bit of garden magic. Thank you to these young helpers for making our campus even more beautiful!
